As with most things in life: it depends.  A new set of eyelashes usually range anywhere from as low as $75 to as much as $400-$500. What are eyelash extensions?

These are individual synthetic lashes that are applied individually and are shaped to match the natural curve of your “regular” eyebrows.  Most good synthetic eyelash brands can withstand everyday wear and tear and are comprised of material that will not irritate the skin.

How to Apply False Individual Lashes

Why so expensive? I’m glad you asked.  Have you ever counted your eyebrows? Ok I admit I haven’t either but the average person has around 50 eyelashes!This is not an easy process ladies and gentleman, don’t try this at home.  The process involves using a strong adhesive(dont want them falling out in the shower) to apply individual lashes onto your existing eyelashes(not your eyelids) one by one! Again, there shouldn’t be any adhesive on your eyelids, and the new eyelashes should not come into contact with them.

Needless to say, this process requires a lot of skill and patience on the part of both parties.   Usually takes around 1.5-2 hours.  A good set of eyelashes will normally last you 6-8 weeks as you shed a few lashes naturally.  Assuming you don’t live a super active lifestyle, you should only need to revisit your local salon for touch ups every 2-4 weeks to maintain them.

Your eyes are one of the first things people notice. You don’t want your eyebrows to detract from the beauty of your eyes. Instead, they should accentuate your eyes and your face. While some people tend to over pluck or strive for the thin line, the sexiest eyebrows are actually thicker. You can get thick eyebrows by either learning the proper plucking techniques or by cheating a little with makeup and brushes.

Thickening Eyebrows With Makeup

Let’s start by either assuming you were born with naturally thin eyebrows or the tweezers got away from you. If the latter, stop, breathe and remember it is fixable. You will need a few supplies to get started.

1. Eyebrow stencil – choose the thickness that best fits your face
2. Eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder
3. Thickening mascara – the same shade or one shade darker than your eyebrow color

Place the eyebrow stencil over your eyebrow and use the pencil or powder to fill in. Use light lines to gradually fill in the empty spaces. Using dark lines will simply draw attention to the makeup instead of blending in with the rest of your eyebrow. Next, use a small amount of thickening mascara (wipe excess off the wand with a tissue) on the actual hair of the eyebrow, not the makeup portion. This will make the remaining hairs appear thicker, giving the illusion of thicker eyebrows.

If you were born with thin eyebrows, you probably don’t want to fill in with makeup every time you go out. Instead, consider eyebrow extensions or eyebrow growth products. To ensure you always have the perfect eyebrows, start by determining the best shape and thickness for your face. Every face is different, so don’t expect your favorite star’s like Beyonce or Cheryl Cole‘s brows to look good on you. A salon or makeup artist can help you decide. You can also use stencils along with an eyebrow pencil to test different thicknesses. Take full advantage of stencils when you pluck to ensure you only pluck hairs outside the stencil area. If you want to prevent any mistakes, consider having your eyebrows done professionally, which often lasts weeks longer than at home tweezing.

The Bad

When you think about which foods, drinks and substances can be harmful to your teeth and general oral hygiene, one good tip to remember is that things that can stain fabric can also stain your teeth. For example, things like coffee, soda, and even blueberries can have very harmful effects on your teeth if they are eaten and you do not clean your mouth immediately afterward. Furthermore, other substances such as tobacco (used via smoke, chewing, etc.) can also stain your teeth and cause plaque build-up. So, while this is by no means an exact or all-inclusive rule, consider staining when you wonder about which foods and drinks are harmful to your oral health.

The Good

There are also a number of foods and substances that are particularly helpful for cleaning your mouth and/or maintaining healthy, white teeth. The best example is probably lemons, which have multiple benefits for oral hygiene. To begin with, lemon peels are some of the best natural breath enhancers in existence ‚ but, more importantly, the high acid quality of lemon juice (and other citrus fruit juices) can play a key role in breaking down harmful plaque buildup on the surfaces of your teeth. This, in turn, can keep your teeth from breaking down and developing cavities. Similarly, abrasive vegetables (such as carrots and celery) are considered very beneficial from a dental point of view, as these sorts of foods involve intensive chewing, and can literally break down plaque merely by rubbing against them. These are just a few examples of some natural foods and drinks that can help you.  Also, keep in mind that anything rich in calcium can strengthen your teeth considerably!

Use Concealer

Even the best eye makeup can’t hide the circles and discoloration under your eyes. Use a little bit of concealer to cover up dark spots. This will bring out the best in the eye colors that you choose without allowing the circles and spots to take away from your makeup.

Use Eyeliner

Use eyeliners to help bring out the best in your eye colors. This is an excellent follow up to any eye base that you might apply. Simply follow your eyes as close to the upper lash as possible, then do the same on your bottom eyelash, but just from the middle of the eye out. Some of the best eye makeup artists like to use a brush with dark eyeshadow along the lids of your eyes, creating a smokey eye effect.

Eyeshadow

The best eye makeup for this part of your process is a three-tone eyeshadow. You want to generally build this up from the lids to the eyebrow. For the best results, allow the three colors to blend together softly. Start with the lightest color first and end with the darkest color in the crease of your eye. This truly helps bring out the best eye color you have.

Highlighter

To bring out the inside of your eyes, simply place a little bit of the aforementioned eyeshadow in the corner of your eye to brighten this normally dark interior. If you can, press the eyeshadow into where the upper lid and bottom lid meet (careful not to hit your eye, of course), thing brings out your best eye color for your tone, and evens out just how bright the eyes look as a whole.

Ultimately, these are only guidelines as success will be based on how you apply it. Don’t be afraid to experiment and play with colors until you find the perfect color that works best for you.
