Frankie Boyle joke defended

Glamour model, Katie Price (Jordan) has complained about a joke which comedian Frankie Boyle had made involving her son Harvey, broadcasters of Frankie’s show Tramadol Nights Channel Four defended him.

The furore came after Frankie said that Jordan had married a cage fighter so that she had someone strong enough to stop Harvey from f*****g her.

The body responsible for regulating the media, OFCOM, has said that they will now begin an investigation into the event on the back of this complaint.

Katie had also attacked Channel Four when complaining about Boyle’s joke, saying that they were effectively endorsing discrimination for a cheap laugh.  The head of comedy for the channel Shane Allen refuted these claims.  He emphasised that they know Frankie’s style of comedy can be sometimes extreme, but that they broadcast a strong warning before each show so that viewers are forewarned about the potential material that will be used.

Katie Price dismissed this defence by saying that they were allowing jokes about disabilities, when they would not allow similar kinds of jokes about race.  She even claimed that it was not about her, only that Harvey is her son, but it was about discriminating against people with disabilites.frankietramadol 300x187 Frankie Boyle joke defended

I doubt that is the case, as would she be so vocal if it were about someone else’s child, or a fictional person necessary to deliver the joke?

Frankie Boyle’s jokes often get on the wrong side of many people, as there is not really a person or subject he would steer away from to deliver a good joke/story.

Just in April of this year on his highly successful UK and Ireland stand up tour, in the middle of his performance Frankie got into an argument with a woman over a joke he made about Down’s Syndrome.  It transpired that the woman had a son who suffered from the condition, but Frankie just said to her that she should know his kind of material and that if she was likely to have been offended, then she should not have came to the show.

Last year, Frankie also got into hot water with the BBC for saying that gold medallist Rebecca Adlington had the face of someone looking at themselves on the back of a spoon.

Stupid tart, making a joke about someone with a disabilities isn’t discriminatory if anything it’s the opposite. Its on the same par as ripping on someone who has no hair, Christ if people laughed at this sort of stuff rather than getting all bent out of shape then the world would be a better place.
Have you people not seen the south park episode Timmy 2000, the whole point is treating people with disabilities as normal people, because that’s what they.

  2. lolly says:

I suppose the joke is funny if it’s not affecting your life when you are suffering and watching someone suffer the joke is not funny any more I watched the programme the other night and thought ok he’s an offensive comedian lets see if he is funny and he is not funny every single sketch was offensive without humour and if you think that it was funny you seriously need help.

Dont Forget DAVID.. Someone Without Hair Can Still defend themselves..Do you think People Like harvey and Other With DownSyndrome understand What hes Talking About…NO…so how the F**k can you think its similar to taking the Pi$$ out of someone without hair…Hes Taken it too Far..

  4. Liam says:

Frankie is my favourite comedian and his ability to say whatever he wants or thinks is amazing and although this joke was a little dis-tasteful, people should know what to expect when they go and see him live and/or watch his TV shows.

  5. gill says:

the man is obviously a very sick and sad individual and he is not at all funny. shock value without humour what a yawn. bless u harvey you will be twice the man he will ever be because you are not the spiteful mean spirited human being that he is. go away frankie boyle and peddle your unfunny rubbish elsewhere.

  6. Moses says:

Im sorry but just because you cannot defend yourself, does not mean there is no one to defend them, so a defense arguement is completely irrelevant. Notice its only charities and organisations ranging from disabilities to alcholism and human rights groups who complain even on behalf of those who are completely able to defend themselves. The point is that everyone knows what Frankie is like, YOU have a choice to watch and to turn away if that kind of thing offends you. Channel 4 knows this as well as the general public which is why time and time again they warn you, but you still cannot resist to listen just so you can complain about it. Considering this world has gone PC mad, think of it this way, if it was a problem, it would have been dealt with by now! They even tried to complain about his paralympic joke and guess what, hundreds of disabled soldiers defended it becuase it kept up their morale. Don’t just jump on the media bandwagon so you can pretend you are some self righteous nincompoop who has never laughed at a distasteful joke. He who hath not sinned, cast the first stone….I doubt I’ll see many being cast!

Im fed up of listening to people slate frankie boyle. Hes a funny funny guy and half of what makes him funny is the sheer offense. Or for me, people being offended so i can just laugh at them them harder.

What do you really expect from a guy who calls one of his shows “I would love to punch every single one of you in the face?”

Hes not exactly going to chortle some school boy joke.

I just wish comedy was as open as it ever was. If Frankie Boyle is in any way harmed by this suit, then its a sad sad country i live in.

  8. Debbiei says:

These so called jokes are so cheap and nasty. I cant even say i’m offended but I would certainly want my money back with jokes that are just not funny. I bet people wouldnt find it funny if it was about ‘ so called’ war heroes getting their limbs blown off. No that’s a bit below the belt isnt it !? Ha ha – NOT

  9. sam says:

Myself and the other 8999 people in the MEN arena in Manchester found it absolutely hilarious when he told it last Tuesday. It was exactly the same with the Baby P stuff and the Jade Goody stuff.

Get over yourself & get a life. As he said the whole way through its a joke, its not your problem so why bother yourself? Oh thats right you have no sense of humour. Its plainly obvious none of you objecting have ever seen him perform live or watched any of his DVDs.

Also the most offensive comedians regularly get booked for Scope & Mencap gigs (look it up)……. why???? Because they tell it how it is and people with disabilities respect that, they don’t need you on your moral (uneducated & ill-informed) high horse to say what they should have said about them. Grow up.

  10. Bean says:

Let’s not forget that this series is essentially his entire last tour played out in front of a studio audience with some sketches in-between. He said this crap ages ago to sold out audiences, up and down the country. Honestly, I watched the DvD before this show came on TV and he repeats his material verbatim, so it strikes me odd that it suddenly becomes an issue now, when its been in the public domain for the best part of a year now. Could be that the Daily Star critics haven’t discovered a theatre yet? but anyhoos; If Jordan (aka Katie Price) had half the courage of Frankie Boyle (or one-tenth of the courage of her son) she’d admit that substance abuse was the direct cause of that child’s disability. The evidence is there and better people than Jordan have been prosecuted for recklessly and purposefully damaging their unborn child in such a fashion.

  11. Peter says:

    He’s a *comedian*.

If you don’t like him, don’t watch him! Doesn’t mean he’s crap, doesn’t mean he’s brilliant, it just means he’s *NOT TO YOUR PARTICULAR TASTE*. Nobody’s right in this argument, especially not Jordan of all people.

  12. Al says:

So many people are saying “if you don’t like him don’t watch him” as if that was some sort of intelligent defence or justification. Jordan didn’t go to watch him but she learned through other sources that he had made a joke suggesting that her mentally disabled eight year old son wanted to rape her. Are the people bleating “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it” really saying that they would have no objection if someone made jokes like this about their children?

I think that Jordan is certainly a completely justifiable target for humour — but an eight year old autistic child? Would you people really just chuckle along if you saw someone taunting an eight year old disabled child in the street, saying that it wouldn’t be long before he tried to rape his mother? My, what a wicked world we live in. So many scumbags.

  13. sam says:

You guys are saying ihe shouldnt of made the joke because he can’t defend himself. If he can’t defend himself surly he couldn’t of got offended by the joke.

  14. Stuart says:

This has recieved more coverage than ‘people’ burning poppies on 1100/11/10! The poppie burning was defended by some English groups as freedom of speech. When a country stops freedom of speech (i’m not defending the burning of poppies by the way!) then the heart of that country dies. I don’t like listening to those Loose Women cackle and giggle whilst making jokes about men and how useless we are, therefore I DO NOT WATCH THEM. He’s a comedian on the edge, and I think it’s refreshing to see, like him or not!

  15. Mike says:

Years ago, Bernard Manning got slated for telling racist jokes. He wasn’t allowed on TV for the last 20 years of his career. Nobody said “Oh, it’s just Bernard, you know what he’s like. It’s just his type of humour”. People shouldn’t be defending Frankie Boyle and justifying it by saying it’s just what he’s like. When the Germans murdered 6 million jews in the war, people didn’t say, ” Oh, that’s just Adolph, you know what he’s like! If you don’t want to be gassed, don’t go to Auschwitz! It’s your choice!” Personally I don’t think he’s funny. Frankie Boyle, that is, not Hitler. Although, he wasn’t a bundle of laughs either. Frankie is everything i dislike in a man; Scottish, bearded and most of all, a Ginner!

  16. Sally Thomas says:

But it was funny and who really cares what ol rubber knockers thinks.

  17. Charlii says:

I find it funny Mike that you leave a long comment about racism and then at the end you say you don’t like Scottish or ginger haired people, Seems a bit of a turn around right at the end lol. I think everyone just needs to calm down, there are always going to be very offensive jokes going around that’s just the way it is, as soon as something bad happens phones around the country are going off with people taking the p*ss out of it. Frankie Boyle just happens to have the balls to say what he wants in the public eye without being scared of what people, who probably have there own discriminative behaviours themselves, are going to be saying about it. Its just childish, let people say what they want to say as everyone’s going to be offended by something eventually anyway.

  18. JM says:

First off, Katie Price sells her life as a soap opera to the tabloids. Marriage, divorce, kids etc. she exposes her children to the media, in other words, exploiting them for money. If you’re going to put yourself into the public eye, you are signing in for public opinion & satirical commentary, that’s just a cross you have to bear with that, so she’s made herself a prime target for jokes like this

Secondly, WE LIVE IN A FREE COUNTRY. That includes freedom of speech. That means everyone is entitled to an opinion, everyone is entitled to care or not care, everyone is entitled to voice that opinion whether it’s in bad taste or not. We do it every day in our homes, jobs, social lives, cyberspace etc & because it’s not heard by everyone, people pretend it doesn’t happen. It’s only because this right to opinion & commentary is broadcast on stage through people like Frankie Boyle that people get offended. Well, too bad. You want your freedom of speech & right to opinion? Then get used to the fact that you have to tolerate things you find in bad taste or find offensive. The alternative is to ban free speech altogether.

So many people have wished horrible things, including grim death on Frankie Boyle over his jokes- how is that any better than his on-stage material?

This is a part of our heritage this part of what we have become and it’s all due to our right to like/dislike, watch/ignore, agree/disagree with whatever we want, a right we are lucky to have unlike many others worldwide

    So get over it.

  19. craig says:

Get a life comedy travels all spectrums and covers everything, fat, thin welsh ginger or a fat bog trotter from the emerald isle, or even a porridge wog from north of the border, and as for jordan and the rest of the fuckwits she goes out with i rest my case, Frankie Boyle is one of the funniest people in recent times, the days of kiss me quick jokes went out probably the last time some of these people had a fuck, freedom of speech i believe its called?
